Executive Coaching

In the fast-paced and demanding world of modern business, success often hinges not just on our skills in the workplace, but also on our ability to navigate our complex minds.

That's where executive coaching comes in. Together we can unlock your full potential, elevate your performance and enhance your mental well-being - in AND out of work.

Dr Jill Williams Executive Coach

Dr Jill Williams

Chartered Psychology & Executive Coach

My Executive Coaching is ideally suited if you are:

  • preparing for leadership training

  • struggling to adjust to a new role

  • finding you’ve achieved promotions quicker than your stress management skills can handle

… or just desire a calmer, more confident way to find your own version of peak performance.

What is Executive Coaching?

My executive coaching empowers individuals to excel in their roles while achieving a healthy, sustainable balance in their lives. You gain a better understanding of how your mind works and together we help you conquer the challenges that hinder your personal growth, career success, and happiness.

Maybe you've been thinking about working with a confidence coach, a mindset coach, a work stress coach or a burnout coach. But the reality is that all these issues are related and we are all wonderfully complex, unique individuals whose challenges cannot be pigeonholed so easily. I'll ensure you have a comprehensive assessment and together we'll determine where your potential for personal growth lies.

The use of psychology is all around us in the modern world - from branding to education, to the government's own 'Nudge Unit' influencing our everyday decisions. Taking advantage of psychology for your own benefit could be the best life hack you ever encounter!

If you've spent years training for a career, surely optimising all that hard work is a no-brainer?

Optimise your mind to work better for you

My Executive Coaching Uptrained Brain program

specialised in the issues that plague high-achievers.

  • Building stress resilience & avoiding burnout:

A certain amount of stress is activating and helpful, but unpleasant pressure and physical symptoms are not.  Most people benefit from strategies to understand and better manage stress.

I offer both 'first aid' techniques and long-term solutions aimed at the root causes and supported by neuroscience. I also offer comprehensive education on burnout prevention, a fast-moving area of research. Let's ensure you stay resilient, focused, and happy.

  • Silencing the Inner Critic (aka self-criticism):

The inner critic can be very active in conscientious people. A certain amount of self-reflection is healthy, but constant self-criticism can be destructive – leading to increased stress, low self-esteem, low mood, and lack of motivation.

With the right coaching support, you can learn to better harness that internal voice to be more realistic, compassionate and helpful – without dropping your standards.

  • Ditching self-sabotaging behaviours:

We can easily slip into unhelpful habits without realising. These include tendencies such as excess perfectionism, procrastination, avoidance, or a lack of assertiveness and personal boundaries.

Often these develop as a natural way to reduce immediate stress but, in the longer term, they actually make life more difficult. They prevent us from building confidence and increase anxiety.

If these are ingrained habits, they can be hard to break alone. My coaching and psychological insight helps you decode your particular pattern of unhelpful behaviour and overcome these frustrating barriers to success.

  • Managing worry and negativity:

For many people, worrying feels automatic and inevitable. But, actually, this is more like a highly-practiced and counterproductive habit (yes, another one - we humans have a lot of them!)

My coaching equips you with the knowledge of why you worry, with techniques to recognise and control excessive rumination. This helps reduce unnecessary stress whilst embracing more productive problem-solving and a calmer everyday life.

  • Building confidence and overcoming Imposter Syndrome:

Imposter syndrome is a lack of self-belief combined with a fear that you are at risk of being ‘found out’ as a fraud in what you do.  Discover how what we naturally do to cope with low confidence and imposter syndrome actually makes things worse.

Then learn how to build self-esteem and confidence in an individualised and paced way, according to your needs and particular situation.

Why choose an Executive Coach who is also a Chartered Psychologist and experienced Mental Health Counsellor?

The key to effective executive coaching lies in the expertise and insight your coach possesses. Driven by my extensive background and qualifications, including a doctorate in psychology, I offer a unique advantage:

  • Best Informed Strategies: I'm a Chartered Psychologist and an Associate Fellow with the British Psychological Society. That's your guarantee of substantial expertise and experience.  I have psychological training that goes way beyond that of the average coach and am bound to strict ethical guidelines, to ensure you're treated fairly.

I use the most up-to-date techniques from behavioural science. This includes Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), which is the gold standard for most issues around mental well-being and behaviour change. I also use Compassion-Focussed Therapy, which is specifically designed to address high levels of self-criticism (aka that harsh inner critic!)

  • Holistic Approach: With in-depth knowledge of human emotion and motivation plus experience as a mental health counsellor, I understand the nuances of mental health. This means I can provide coaching that's sensitive to your emotional well-being, as well as your professional growth.

Sadly, the rates of reported mental health issues have never been higher. For example, one study found that 59% of white-collar workers reported feelings of depression (Deloitte 2022). I am better placed than a purely business coach in helping people whose problems border on requiring therapeutic help, or who have experienced past mental health issues (a significant proportion of us!)

  • Customised Solutions: Every individual is different, and cookie-cutter approaches won't cut it. With my expertise, I tailor coaching or counselling to your specific needs and circumstances.

  • A Trusted Partner: As a seasoned mental health counsellor, I offer a safe and confidential space.  I only coach or counsel a small number of clients at a time and I always work with empathy and compassion first - a genuine commitment to understanding your situation.

Helping you gain the insight and skills to grow, is my priority!
